To Start Command Line Scanner

Start

Open the Windows prompt (Start - Run - cmd.exe) and browse the folder that contains a2cmd.exe. Start the Commandline Scanner as follows - a2cmd.exe

Available parameters - Scan parameters (can be combined):

/f=[path], /files=[path]

Scans a disk, a folder or a single file for malware infections. Folder paths with spaces have to be put in quotation marks.

Example: a2cmd /f="c:\windows\"

/m, /memory

Scans all active programs.

/t, /traces

Scans the registry an the file/folder structures on a hard disk for spyware traces.

/c, /cookies

Scans all cookies for TrackingCookies. Supported browsers: MS Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox

/quick

Abbreviation for running a quick system check. Scans all active programs, spyware traces (registry, files) and TrackingCookies.

/smart

Abbreviation for running a scan of the most important system parts. Scans as well the windows an program files folders additionally to the quick scan.

/deep

Abbreviation for running a complete system scan. Scans all files on all hard disks thoroughly.

Scan options parameters (for precise adjustment of the scan parameters):

/h, /heuristic

Uses heuristic methods for identifying new malware during the scan.

/r, /riskware

Also reports riskware, that is benign software which is often installed by malware as helpful tools.

/a, /archive

Scans also within archive files such as ZIP, RAR, CAB, and self-extracting archives.

/n, /ntfs

Scans also hidden data flows in NTFS disks.

/l=[path], /log=[path]

Saves a scan log to the specified file. The text-based log is saved in Unicode format.

Example: a2cmd /deep /log="c:\scans\scan.log"

/la=[path], /logansi=[path]

Same as the /l bzw /log parameter, but the log is saved in ANSI Format (for Windows 9x systems).

/x=[list], /ext=[list]

Scans only files with the specified extensions.

Example: a2cmd /f="c:\windows\" /x="exe, com, scr, bat"

/xe=[list], /extexclude=[list]

Scans all files except those with the specified extensions.

Example: a2cmd /deep /xe="avi, bmp, mp3"

/wl=[path], /whitelist=[path]

Uses the specified whitelist file for excluding certain files, folders or malware names in the scan. Whitelist files must be text files where each line is one of the items to be excluded.

Example: a2cmd /f="c:\" /wl="c:\whitelist.txt"

/d, /delete

Deletes all detected malware objects at once during the scan. Also deletes reference to the found file, e.g. autorun entries in the registry.

/dq, /deletequick

Deletes all detected malware objects at once during the scan. Only the found file itself is deleted. Quicker than /d or /delete.

/q=[folder], /quarantine=[folder]

Put detected malware in quarantine at once during the scan. The quarantine folder can be specified. Detected objects are saved and encrypted there so that they cannot do any more harm.

Parameters for the treatment of malware (can be used alone):

/ql, /quarantinelist

Lists all objects that are under quarantine. The consecutive number at the beginning of each line can be used for deleting or restoring (zero-based index).

/qr=[n], /quarantinerestore=[n]

Restores an object under quarantine with the specified index number. If no number is specified, all objects are restored.

Example: a2cmd /qr=0

/qd=[n], /quarantinedelete=[n]

Deletes an object under quarantine with the specified index number.

General parameters:

/s, /service

Always has to be used in combination with a scan parameter. Defines if the Anti-Malware service is to be used for scanning.

Background: When running many short scans loading the scan engine new at each start of a2cmd is inefficient. Using the /s or /service parameter makes the Anti-Malware service load the engine and keep it loaded for later scans. If the service is not yet started or installed it gets installed and started when the service parameter is run for the first time.

/u, /update

Must be used alone. Runs an online update of all program components and signatures. If a2cmd is used as a part of Emsisoft Anti-Malware, only the update function of Emsisoft Anti-Malware should be used.

/?, /help

Must be used alone. Shows an overview of all available parameters.

Result codes:

0 - No infections were found

1 - Infections were found

Use Windows 7 Shortcuts in Windows XP and Vista

Windows 7 is a great OS released by Microsoft and have lots of new and improved functionalities. One of such functions is the advancement of the Keyboard shortcuts in the Windows 7 OS.

Windows 7 have the following new and helpful keyboard shortcuts that solve our many problems.

The shortcuts that are added are:

Win+Left/Right arrows: Align the window to each side of the monitor

Win+Up arrow: Maximize the active window

Win+Down arrow: Minimize the window/Restore the window if it’s maximized

Win+Space: All windows are made transparent so you can see the desktop

Win+Home: Minimize all windows but the current window

Well these shortcuts can be used in the Windows 7 OS but with the use of a tool called Windows 7 Shortcuts, we can use the above listed keyboard shortcuts in the XP and Vista OS.

Lock Folders On USB Flash Drives

Everybody has their confidential data like photographs, reports, family video etc. in their system which is supposed to be kept secured. But sometimes, we just cannot say no to the others if they wsshot19ant to use our system but then what about our confidential data? we will tell you about a tool which can solve this problem by locking the folders and disabling the USB drives of your system.

This tool can lock any folder of your system and it can disable the USB ports. So nobody can either see your data or transfer it to another system. When the folder gets locked then the icon of that folder will change and no matter how many times you click it, it will neither open nor ask about any password to access the folder. So once you locked a folder, you can open it with BuduLock only.

As you can see form the above snapshot that, initially you will have to select the folder which is supposed to be locked. Please, remember an important point that if you want to lock a folder then you should first open it and then apply the lock, else your folder will not get locked. When you press the ‘Lock’ button, it will ask a password do remember it as you will be needing it while unlocking that folder

Once you lock a folder, the name of that folder will be preceded by a code which will include random alphabets and numbers. This will indicate that the folder is locked, as you will not see any change in the icon of that folder in the browse option of that tool. You can also lock any USB drive by assigning a password in order to change its status to ‘Enable’ or ‘Disable’. But keep in mind that you will have to disable the User Account Control i.e. UAC to use this feature as it is already instructed in the application window.

The size of this tool is 1.2Mb. So, because of being light it will not take time to get installed as i got installed in 4 seconds on my system. It will create a shortcut on your desktop. This tool is compatible with all the versions of Windows as it has been checked on Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate edition.

Auto Save Text Files In Notepad and Other Editors While Editing

When it comes to editing the text files, they may contain some information which should not be lost. But most the text files does not have the feature of auto save including the default notepad editor which is in built in windows.

Now, you can easily solve this problem by using a freeware utility called AutoSaver which helps you save the text file you are editing in any text editor in windows. So, this way you don’t need to manually press Ctrl+S to save the file.

 

As you can see in the image above, you can specify the time interval as 5 minute, 1 minute, 30 seconds or 15 seconds. Your changes in text files will not be lost if you use this utility. Increase, Decrease Volume From Keyboard Keys

Today i will be reviewing a tool which will help you to easily control the volume of your system with the help of the keys assigned on your keyboard. Sometimes while working on PCs, we do not have any keys on our keyboard which is allotted to control the volume of our system. And on Laptop, the keys allotted are too difficult to remember and to locate at the time of using them. So,this tool named as VolControl will solve this problems by assigning some familiar keys.

The latest version of this freeware allows you to vary the volume control keys under a certain domain (which was not present in the previous versions). Initially the keys assigned were Win+up/down, but this time you can vary them as per your convenience.

First option is to adjust the scale by which the volume will increase or decrease, then you have three different options which are show meter bar, start with windows and show tray icon, all these can checked or unchecked as per the convenience. Now, you the option to assign the hot keys to volume control, instead of Win key, you can use shift, control, alt or that same key Win and then instead of using up and down you can use many other keys which are available in the scroll down menu. In this version you also have a shortcut for muting your system, which was not available in the previous version.

You can also change the effects, which are present with the display of meter bar. Under the animation option, the meter bar will fade in and fade out, whenever you will press and release the buttons respectively. Under the transparency option, the bar will not be visible completely but it will be transparent and least visible, it can be used when you are watching a movie and you do not want to disturb the appearance with the bar.
